Pro Audio Technology (PRO) has announced performance updates to five of its best-selling loudspeakers, introducing Version 2 (v2) models that incorporate upgraded drivers, revised internal components, and updated high-resolution loudspeaker digital signal processing, according to the company.
The updated models include the LFC-24sm 24-inch subwoofer; the SR-28212ai dual 12-inch full-range surround loudspeaker with an internal subwoofer; the S-12sm 12-inch multi-use loudspeaker and its shallow SR-12ai counterpart; and the SR-8ai shallow 8-inch multi-use loudspeaker. All v2 models are available to order now, PRO says.
According to the company, the decision to update existing products rather than introduce new models followed a review of its top-performing loudspeakers. Marc Bertrand, chief strategy officer at Pro Audio Technology, said the focus was on elevating performance through upgraded transducers and higher-resolution loudspeaker processing across the line.
PRO says its loudspeakers are built to order in the United States and are designed for high-end residential installations, including home theaters. The company reports that its engineering process relies on advanced measurement tools and modeling software, including the Klippel Near Field Scanner, which it uses to develop and optimize all loudspeaker designs.
One of the more notable updates applies to the SR-28212ai v2, which now incorporates a 1.7-inch, 16-ohm compression driver from Theory Audio Design. According to PRO CEO Paul Hales, the change is intended to improve performance while helping reduce audible system noise in large installations that deploy multiple high-efficiency tweeters.
PRO also highlighted its use of closed-system digital signal processing across its loudspeaker lineup. The company says loudspeaker voicing is handled through Theory loudspeaker controllers, allowing certain performance improvements to be delivered via firmware updates when component changes are not required. According to PRO, these updates are provided at no cost to existing system owners.
Now in its 21st year, Pro Audio Technology designs and manufactures loudspeakers and DSP-amplified loudspeaker controllers for high-end residential and commercial installations. The company states that all PRO loudspeakers are designed, engineered, and manufactured in the United States.
