Panasonic Miraie Smart Home Platform Debuts in India

What does the smart home look like in India? Apparently it is so exciting that it makes homeowners dance around in lingerie activating IoT devices. Well, at least that is the kickoff video for the new Panasonic India Miraie smart home / IoT platform with affordably priced products that include connected air conditioners, washing machines, motorized shades, TVs, fans, cameras, audio, video, smart refrigerators, smart doorbell and plugs and switches.

The new IoT & AI enabled platform is dubbed Miraie. ‘Mirai’ meaning ‘future’ and ‘ie’ meaning ‘home’ in Japanese.

The platform was developed at Panasonic’s India Innovation Centre based out of Bangalore. Air conditioners, smart doorbell and plugs and switches are the first products to hit the market, while others will follow in the near future.

Manish Sharma, president & CEO, Panasonic India and South East Asia, said, “With the advent of 5G, IoT will be driving the next round of transformation in the digital world and is the future of smart, connected India. Consumers are now looking towards IoT & AI enabled solutions to enhance quality of life through connected ecosystems — as per our research over 75% are looking for comfort & convenience with specific requirements related to ease of use; safety; monitoring misuse; service reminders.

Indian Consumers Want More Smart Home Tech

Panasonic’s research shows that 50% of Indian consumers desire smart home technology and plan to buy in the next six months.

The Miraie platform not only connects and allows access to all Panasonic’s devices in one place but also offers in-built intelligent diagnostics that detect issues in advance. Miraie also recognizes usage patterns and suggests optimal modes extending the best comfort for users.

The platform is voice controllable with both Google’s Voice Assistant and Amazon’s Alexa technology. The Miraie App offers also stories all warranty services and annual maintenance contracts related to the system.

Talking about the launch, Dinesh Aggarwal, joint managing director, Panasonic Life Solutions added that, “As a market leader in the electrical wiring devices, we foresee a world in which various electrical and electronic devices will be IoT and AI enabled. We see these devices getting smarter and can largely be controlled via voice command, even by a child or a senior citizen.”
