Onkyo USA, the U.S. distributor for TEAC, has launched a pair of amplification products: the AX-505 Stereo Integrated Amplifier and the AP-505 Stereo Power Amplifier.
Announced at CES 2019, the two new amplification products can be seen in the Venetian Hotel Suite 29-205. The new TEAC amplifiers each retail for $1,600, and are engineered to live up to the company's reputation for providing high levels of performance without the excesses of typical audiophile marketing pricing.
“TEAC has a long-established reputation for creating innovative products designed for producing high fidelity audio and the AP-505 and AX-505 are worthy newcomers,” states Don Milks, director of marketing and product localization, Onkyo USA.
“We are excited to debut these two impressive products at CES and provide them the media and retail exposure they deserve.”
The new amplifier products will be available in January and February respectively.
Class D Technologies Help New TEAC Amps
At the heart of the AX-505 and AP-505 are Hypex Ncore Class D amplification technologies helping the amplifiers to produce 70-watts per channel into an 8-ohm load. Both products also incorporate protection circuitry to help guard against current surges, overvoltages and overheating.
The amplifiers also employ toroidal power transformers to help the products' power supplies avoid power output fluctuations.
According to Onkyo, a stable power supply enables the amplifiers to maintain their rated power output capabilities under heavy load conditions. In addition, the amps' power sections utilize Schottky barrier diodes to increase the amps' efficiency, while reducing the amount of heat the amps generate.

Encased in aluminum enclosures, the products feature elegant touches such as machined aluminum knobs and gold-plated screw-style speaker terminals to help enhance their visual appearance.
Aesthetically, the amps also include large volume meters (VU) that come with four-step dimmable, backlight and AD/DA circuits. The amps also provide headphone options for personal listening opportunities.
The AP-505 Stereo Power Amplifier offers integrators a choice of three output modes: stereo mode, BTL bridge mode, and bi-amp dual monaural mode.
