Lutron Electronics has announced the promotion of President Edward J. Blair to Vice-Chairman of the Board, expanding his role within the company’s executive leadership team. Blair will retain his current title as President, continuing to lead Lutron’s global operations while now also contributing to board-level strategic planning and governance.
The promotion, announced by Chair and CEO Susan Hakkarainen, highlights Blair’s influence in driving the company’s growth, operational performance, and product innovation across nearly three decades at Lutron.
Blair joined Lutron in 1996 and has held a series of leadership positions across engineering, sales, marketing, human resources, and business unit management. He was named President in 2019, after serving as Senior Vice President of the Residential Systems Business Unit and Executive Vice President. Under his leadership, Lutron has experienced multiple years of record-breaking sales.
A prolific inventor with over 100 U.S. patents, Blair has had a hand in developing some of Lutron’s most successful products and technologies, including wallbox controls, Palladiom controls and shades, and battery-powered shading systems. He also played a pivotal role in expanding the company’s Motorized Shades category and oversaw the launch of Lutron’s first fabric collection, the Sivoia QS shading system, and its direct-to-consumer sales strategy. In 2025, these efforts culminated in the opening of Lutron’s Ashland, VA shading facility—the largest of its kind in the world.
Blair also championed the development of Lutron’s Intelligent Lighting Systems (ILS) category and was instrumental in the acquisition and integration of Ketra. Today, ILS represents a major strategic pillar for the company.
“I’m honored to assume the role of Vice-Chairman of the Board while continuing to serve as President of Lutron,” Blair said in a statement. ““I look forward to working with our exceptional global teams to build on Lutron’s strong foundation of innovation, customer focus, and collaboration, and working with our Board and leadership team to shape the next chapter of Lutron’s growth and success.”
Blair earned both his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and MBA from Lehigh University. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he is active in youth sports and community leadership, serving on Lehigh University’s Dean’s Advisory Council and the board of the National Association of Manufacturers.
The Lutron Board of Directors now includes Blair, Hakkarainen, and five external members with backgrounds in manufacturing, healthcare, finance, and executive leadership.
