For years musicians have used Korg's digital pianos, keyboards, tuners and other products to make and play some of the most popular songs on the radio.
Not too long ago the company diversified into the consumer electronics market, when it entered the DAC category, and more recently it strengthened its selection of DACs when it introduced its new DS-DAC-10R Recording System DAC solution.
The DS-DAC-10R is a 1-bit DSD recording system features a USB input and a built-in moving magnet (MM) phono preamp. Korg states the product incorporates an Asynchronous bi-directional USB control for the recording and playback of vinyl, tape, CDs in the 1-bit DSD format.
The DAC supports 2.8MHz and 5.6MHz DSD, PCM up to 24-bit/192kHz, and Korg supports the DAC with its proprietary Audiogate software, which it says is compatible with all of latest formats for the playback of high-resolution audio.
Korg says the DS-DAC-10R Recording System solution enables music fans to get a best of both worlds experience through the warmth of analog sound and the convenience of digital media without the noise, clicks and pops that people normally associate with vinyl.
The DAC's phono inputs allow dealers to easily connect the DS-DAC-10R to a turntable, and users can from there convert their vinyl collections into DSD files. Korg says the inputs also act as line inputs to enable the connection of reel-to-reel and cassette players to provide more analog source conversion options.
In addition, Korg also offers its iAudiogate iOS app that provides the ability to listen to high-resolution audio through Apple devices. The app supports DSD, FLAC, MP3 and other file types, and it provides other benefits that include upsampling, and file forwarding via Apple's AirDrop and iCloud Drive, as well as Dropbox.
The DS-DAC-10R Recording System carries an MSRP of $599, with the companion Audiogate management software available as a free download. Korg adds the optional iAudiogate iOS app is available through the app store for a cost of $14.99.
