KEF has partnered with the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) to present Sonic Arcade: Shaping Space with Sound exhibit. The multi-component exhibition features interactive installations, immersive environments and performing objects that explore how the abstract nature of sound is made.
Comprised of linked solo and curated projects, Sonic Arcade explores sound as substance, framing it as interdependent material that is physically crafted and transmitted through electronic circuits and signals, radio waves, and resonant bodies that create encounters that are not only heard, but felt. The exhibition features contemporary artists, designers and performers — and uses KEF speakers to bring the sound to life.
“Industrial design is an integral part of the entire KEF listening experience. KEF speakers represent the perfect union of art and technology,” says Alec Chanin, president, KEF. “We are excited to be an official sponsor for the Museum of Arts and Design's Sonic Arcade: Shaping Space with Sound. The exhibit explores sound as a tangible art form, and our speaekrs fit right it with the exhibits aesthetic. MAD is a perfect venue.”

KEF products featured at the exhibit include the company's proprietary Uni-Q driver array. KEF says the design concept of Uni-Q driver array places the tweeter in the acoustic center of the midrange cone to create a single point source.
Through the implementation of KEF's Uni-Q driver array, exhibit attendees will hear, “a more detailed, accurate three-dimensional sound image, which is dispersed more evenly throughout the room than is possible with any conventional speaker,” according to global audio manufacturer.
The Sonic Arcade exhibit takes place now until Feb. 25, 2018. Located at 2 Columbus Circle in New York City, the exhibit is located in the Jerome and Simona Chazen building. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
