Kaleidescape has introduced a new high-capacity movie server aimed at customers building large, high-performance home cinema libraries, while also marking a milestone moment for the company as it celebrates 25 years in the premium movie delivery category.
The new Terra Prime 120TB movie server is designed to store up to 2,000 4K titles, according to Kaleidescape, and supports download speeds that can deliver a full movie in as little as eight minutes when connected to a 2.5-gigabit network. The company positions the system as an expansion of its Terra server lineup, replacing the previous 96TB configuration with increased storage capacity for larger collections.
Kaleidescape says the Terra platform is built to scale alongside a home’s entertainment system. Multiple servers can be grouped together, supporting distributed playback across the home when paired with the company’s Strato movie players. The system also enables features such as centralized library management, cover art browsing, and parental controls.
“Terra ensures maximum storage flexibility for growing movie libraries, while supporting Strato movie players throughout the home,” says Jason Welsh, senior vice president of sales at Kaleidescape.
The Terra Prime 120TB is available now with a suggested retail price of $34,995.
Kaleidescape Turns 25
The product launch comes as Kaleidescape marks its 25th anniversary, providing additional context for how the company continues to position itself in the high-end home cinema ecosystem. Founded in 2001, Kaleidescape introduced one of the first on-screen movie library interfaces for disc-based content, later transitioning to a digital delivery platform capable of providing full Blu-ray quality and, eventually, reference 4K video with lossless audio.
Today, the company maintains that its platform remains differentiated by its focus on high-fidelity playback, including lossless multichannel formats such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, delivered through its proprietary movie store. The catalog includes thousands of titles spanning films, television series, and concert content.
“As we mark 25 years, we are proud to be the only provider that has sustained a true high-fidelity movie library, with lossless audio and full reference video,” says Tayloe Stansbury, chairman and CEO of Kaleidescape.
Martin Scorsese also praised the platform’s impact on professional and enthusiast viewing environments.
“Kaleidescape has been essential for me, for many years now. I can’t imagine being without it. And now, thanks to the 4K upgrade, it’s even better. Honestly, it’s everything I need.”
Kaleidescape says it has secured content agreements with more than 50 studios and expanded its presence into international and specialty markets, including marine installations, while continuing to focus on performance, reliability, and integration within professionally installed AV systems.
