Crestron recently released an update to Crestron Home OS with update 3.21 that the company says will help integrators meet their client’s needs more efficiently.

The update, officially launched on July 19, includes improvements to the myCrestron Portal, the ability to manage firmware updates across entire systems, the ability to add Ethernet devices across subnetworks, functionality for a new line of keypads and a new touchscreen, and multiprocessor support for lighting and keypads.

New Updates Included in Crestron Home OS 3.21

Crestron touts the MyCrestron Portal as the biggest improvement in update 3.21. The update includes a new URL, crestronhome.io, which the company says will help save time during login.

In addition, integrators will see upgrades to both components of the portal: pre-configuration and management. The update makes it faster for dealers to do their data entry with a responsive search bar that auto-fills with a variety of options while adding a device. Previously, users would have to switch between multiple tabs and risk losing their place.

The update also allows the ability to add multiple devices with a single click, the company says.

Integrators can also now manage firmware updates across entire systems, and even across their entire fleet of Crestron Home OS-powered homes. This allows dealers to manage and update all Crestron devices through the cloud, reducing the need to roll a truck or open ports in the firewall to get access to devices, the company says.

Crestron will also soon be adding climate control to the portal in addition to the lighting and shading options currently included.

The Crestron Home update 3.21 also enables the quick addition of Ethernet devices across subnetworks. This allows integrators to reach across subnets no matter where they’re working in the larger network, the company says.

In addition, the Crestron Home 3.21 OS update includes functionality for the company’s new line of Horizon keypads and dimmers. Integrators can set the color temperature of the keypad’s backlights to match the color temperature of the room, the company says.

The company adds that the new Crestron TST-1080 touch screen includes a native Crestron Home OS app for control.

Lastly, the release includes multiprocessor support for lighting and keypads to make installation and deployment easier. According to the company, this allows integrators to deploy lighting systems at the early stages of commissioning via the DIN-AP4-R for example, and then add AV and automation via the MC4-R, PC4-R, or CP4-R controls in the equipment rack when the time is right — without duplication in the OS.
