Hey everyone! I’m Zach, and I am beyond excited to be the new editorial leader for CE Pro. I’ve been with the brand for about three years, and frankly, I’ve had a blast covering the custom home integration industry. I came from CE Pro’s commercial sister publication Commercial Integrator, where I was introduced to manufacturers like Crestron, L-Acoustics, Sonos, LG, Samsung, and so many other companies that cater to both commercial and residential markets.
So, I already had a familiarity with and understanding of the major players in the integration world. However, I find the residential space so much more exciting. Sorry to you folks who play in both markets, but I’d much rather review an OLED TV or hi-fi speaker than a video bar or headset.
I’ve not been much of a techie, but that has changed over the last few years. I’ve become a smart home DIYer—to varied success—and have developed an eye and ear for quality audio and video. I discovered hi-res streaming via Tidal, and I’m never going back. I’m currently shopping for a new TV, and now I know that OLED TVs and other premium models aren’t more expensive for just any reason. In terms of networking, I graduated from a single Wi-Fi router to a mesh system, and I had no idea how much speed and bandwidth I was losing.
I’ve always enjoyed the occasional Zillow search for gigantic homes with equally gigantic price tags, so covering these incredible projects that take place in beautiful homes is very fun for me. On that note, please keep sending us your case studies, and definitely submit your projects to the CE Pro Home of the Year awards!
I am a journalist by trade, which means I enjoy telling stories that aren’t otherwise told – and I like to think I’m pretty good at it. That is sometimes challenging in a small, tight-knit industry such as this one. I’m constantly amazed at the camaraderie at industry events and how it feels like one gigantic family gathering for the holidays.
However, I fully intend on listening to you folks and telling your stories, uncovering new trends, covering the latest products, bringing you timely research and data, and simply elevating the entire custom home integration industry.
You’ll be seeing a lot more of me at industry events, especially CEDIA Expo 2025. I’m always excited to hit the floor and see all of these incredible products and services coming to the market.
My plan is to continue to bring that excitement, energy and enthusiasm to CE Pro and the industry at large.
