D-Tools Adds Interconnect Diagrams to Cloud to Streamline System Design and Documentation

D-Tools says Interconnect Diagrams gives users a dynamic way to map device connections across an integration project.

D-Tools has introduced Interconnect Diagrams, a new feature in its cloud-based platform aimed at improving how integrators plan, visualize, and communicate system designs. The company says the tool gives users a dynamic way to map device connections across a project, replacing separate spreadsheets and static CAD drawings with a unified visual workspace.

Built directly into D-Tools Cloud, Interconnect Diagrams automatically syncs with live project data, including the bill of materials, the company states. This connection allows sales, engineering, and installation teams to work from the same information and reduces the likelihood of errors caused by outdated documents. The tool can display device interconnects by system, phase, or location, offering clearer context as teams move from proposal through installation.

Randy Stearns, CEO of D-Tools, says the new feature sets a foundation for more consistent communication within integration firms.

“Interconnect Diagrams represent the next step in accurately representing a system design and creates a communication platform around which team members gain a common understanding of a system’s design intent,” says Stearns.

According to D-Tools, the tool is designed for immediate use. It requires no additional software and pulls from the platform’s built-in product library. Devices within a quote can be connected visually with click-to-connect functionality, and all data remains tied to the current project catalog. The platform also includes grouping and filtering options to help users locate products quickly and organize diagrams based on each project’s structure.

Field personnel can generate connection summary reports directly from the tool, giving installation teams a clear reference for wiring and signal flow. D-Tools says the feature is intended to improve clarity, eliminate redundant documentation, and help ensure systems are installed according to the original design intent.

D-Tools Cloud and the company’s System Integrator platform are used by more than 8,000 integration firms worldwide. The company says the addition of Interconnect Diagrams is part of its larger effort to streamline design, project management, and service workflows for professional integrators.
