Few individuals in the custom installation market have as much experience selling in the luxury A/V market as Paradise Theater's Sam Cavitt.

Carlsbad, Calif.-based Paradise Theater specializes in the design of high-performance, luxury, private home theaters. During CEDIA Expo 2019 Cavitt will pass along the knowledge he's acquired over the years serving the luxury home theater market through three educational courses that will be presented during the show.

The purpose of the Cavitt-led seminars is to help professional integrators separate their products and services from the items that are available from mass-market businesses.

“If we want to maintain a healthy industry into the future, we must establish value for our specialization and know how to convey these benefits to our clientele.”

“For too long our industry has gone the way of commoditization,” states Cavitt.

“If we want to maintain a healthy industry into the future, we must establish value for our specialization and know how to convey these benefits to our clientele.”

Cavitt adds the courses are a part of a larger initiative that he is spearheading for the custom installation that he refers to as cultivating private cinema connoisseurship.

“If we as an industry can establish a community of both consumers and professionals who value [our services] and are actively interested in the furthering the best that can be experienced in private cinema, we will have done well both for ourselves as an industry and for those who we serve,” comments Cavitt.

Paradise Cinema Private Cinema Connoisseurship Educational Seminars

Cavitt's classes will be offered on Wednesday, Sept. 11 and Friday, Sept. 13 and they cover a range of topics that fall under the umbrella of Private Cinema Connoisseurship.

Here is a look at each of the three classes Cavitt will be leading:

Creating Sonic Connoisseurs:

This class will be held on Wednesday Sept. 11 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

This class is designed to showcase how sound can been seen as new. Viewing audio in this manner helps consumers to better appreciate and value luxury home theater, especially considering that a vast majority of the public has never experienced a well-designed home theater.

Becoming Cinema Sommelier:

Cavitt says this class is designed to look at how installation professionals can take the role of private cinema sommeliers.

In the role of private cinema sommeiler, integrators can bring increased market awareness to inform the public about the qualities that luxury cinemas can bring to their home and entertainment activities.

The “Becoming Cinema Sommelier” class takes place on Wednesday Sept. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Selling High Performance Solutions and the Luxury Market:

This popular seminar is available on Friday Sept. 13 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

In this course CEDIA Expo 2019 attendees will learn how to adopt strategies to support luxury, high-performance sales that emphasize value.

The course identifies the value-add components within the luxury high-performance A/V market to help break the paradigm of price over performance and commoditization.

Paradise Theater Teams with Wisdom Audio

Supporting the private cinema connoisseurship initiative, Cavitt has partnered with Wisdom Audio to demonstrate luxury high-performance A/V.

The alliance between Paradise Theater and Wisdom Audio reinforces the curriculum that Cavitt will present during the annual trade event.

“These dedicated demonstrations will put substance to the process taught in the class, where we discuss an effective method of demonstrating audio with purpose and share tracks that are effective for these demonstration objectives.” explains Cavitt.

“In these reserved sessions we will actually be able to perform these demos over an extraordinary audio system and experience the benefits of a purposed audio demonstration. We will be teaching integrators to be kind of a sonic sommelier, sharing the good wine with our patrons.”

The demonstrations will be held on Thursday Sept. 12 at 9:10 a.m. and Friday Sept. 13 at 9:10 a.m., and Cavitt advises attendees to bring their class registrations to assure seating during the demos, which will have limited space.
