My Device, an Australia-based control systems developer specializing in RTI and Control4 driver development, announced the release of its latest RTI driver to integrate the popular Amazon Echo.
Integrators can use the driver to control any RTI XP system or connected device with hands-free voice control. According to Matt Crump, lead developer at My Device, the Echo's far-field voice recognition is better than anything else on the market. It solves the need for custom integrators seeking a reliable and affordable voice control solution for their clients.
The new My Device RTI driver takes advantage of this technology and provides a voice UI to RTI systems to control matrix switchers, sources, lighting controls and more. The low $100 price point of the driver and an Amazon device, along with the simple integration, make it a viable solution for hands-free voice control.
“With our new RTI driver for Amazon Echo custom integrators can provide voice control for anything in a client’s home, from any room,” says Crump. “We will continue to develop on this platform and soon release integration with more control systems.”
Adding voice control to any project is easy. An integrator can add an Amazon Echo, Tap, Dot, or even the Fire TV (with voice remote) in each room voice control is desired. Then download and configure the My Device RTI driver by customizing triggers and assign them to system macros. Each trigger can utilize on, off, raise, and lower as actions to perform different system macros. You can say things like “Alexa, turn on Kitchen Apple TV” and “Alexa, turn house off.”
The driver makes the Amazon Echo as customizable as RTI itself, Crump adds.
