While swimming pools or hot tubs can be a beautiful centerpiece of a home's outdoor space, many homeowners struggle to maintain a perfectly balanced pool or tub. If you're running into this issue, a device that monitors the pH (and more) of the water could help.
The pHin smart monitor, a new device from ConnectedYard, feeds data about the water conditions of a pool over the Internet to a smartphone, minimizing the chance of under- or over-treating it with chemicals.
Pool or hot tub owners can get real time, on the spot reports of the pH, chlorine, alkalinity, hardness and cyanuric acid levels.
Floating Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled sensors monitor the chemical makeup of the swimming pool or hot tub water and send it to a mobile app. The same app can be used to order chemicals, seek advice and schedule cleaning, winterizing and more from a pHin network of retailers.
pHin can be purchased with a chemical subscription, so all homeowners need to do is add the single-dose, pre-measured, color-coded pHin Pods or they can use pHin with their own chemicals.
ConnectedYard says the price is about the same as homeowners pay today for the chemicals alone. The pHin subscription starts at $299 a year.
ConnectedYard offers two types of membership: an annual membership that runs for 12 months and a seasonal membership for four months for those who drain or winterize their pool during the off-season.
