With the installation market growing and the lines between residential and commercial electronics blurring, residential dealers are increasingly in need of solutions that deliver the performance and reliability commercial clients demand as they move into the commercial market.

For years the Atlanta-based signal management company DVIGear has been supporting the commercial electronics industry and the requirements of clients in a range of vertical markets. The Georgia company's latest product is the new 3580a MultiViewer Switcher/Scaler, and DVIGear says that dealers can use this product to service clients in a variety of presentation applications.

The company explains the 3580a is engineered to support many different types of A/V signals, including 4K at 60p through its inclusion of four HDMI inputs, two DisplayPort inputs and a single RGB/YPbPr analog VGA input. Internally, the unit's scaling engine delivers a range of output resolutions up to 3840 x 2160 at 30p, and the selected input is routed to two mirrored outputs: HDMI and HDBaseT.

The HDBaseT output features power over HDBaseT (PoH) to allow dealers to use DVIGear's DVI-7520RX receiver, which the MultiViewer Switcher/Scaler can power over the Ethernet cable run, and the company points out the 3580a can simultaneously display up to 4x video signals up to 4K, which can be displayed in a choice of layouts—single, double, triple or quadruple.

Moreover, DVIGear notes the MultiViewer Switcher/Scaler offers EDID management functions that allow each connected source device to presented with unique EDID from a choice of files such as one of six factory preset values; the EDID from the connected HDMI or HDBaseT display or one of seven custom EDID values.

In addition to its video signal capabilities, DVIGear also points out the product incorporates audio embedding and audio de-embedding outputs. The company states each video input is coupled with an analog stereo audio input connection, and the 3850a features three audio outputs: HDMI/HDBaseT embedded audio, 8-channel (7.1) analog audio and Toslink audio. Other audio options include user adjustable lip sync correction, and some of the unit's control options include LAN (built-in Web GUI or Telnet), RS-232, IR and front panel buttons.
