The emergence of 4K Ultra HD has upped the ante for companies whose products specialize in signal distribution, particularly in commercial installation environments. Avenview, a manufacturer of pro A/V components for the management and distribution of video signals, will be demonstrating some of its latest products in this realm alongside its partner AVPro Store during CEDIA, in booth #7318.
In particular, Avenview has launched the APEX4K Series, a 4K A/V over IP Extender with matrix, multiviewer and video wall functions.
The APEX4K set includes modular devices that are the first to enable extension, switching and compositing of uncompressed Ultra HD video over IP with zero frame latency, using BlueRiver NT and NT+ chips from AptoVision.
This 4K video-over-IP Extender employs FPGA chip technology and a high-bandwidth synchronous packet-based architecture for pixel transmission and it is among the first IP based products to transmit uncompressed 4K AV signals.
With two models available, the APEX4K series allows users to enjoy true 4K @ 30Hz and 60Hz over 100m of Cat X, according to the company.
The APEX4K IP Extenders provide a multi-function installation while reducing costs and size of equipment; custom A/V switches are not required and are replaced with off-the-shelf Gigabit Ethernet switches, explains Avenview. These can cost as little as one-tenth of a custom A/V switch and in addition, other network equipment can share the LAN, which simplifies installation and lowers costs; there is no need for a separate data and A/V LAN.
The device also has built-in scalability since high bandwidth uplinks on most IP switches allow easy addition of I/Os beyond the maximum density of the installed switch.
Existing Cat X Infrastructure can be used to transmit 4K video up to 100 meters. With fiber-optic cable, this device will transmit up to 30 kilometers in the future. IR and RS232 functionality ensure this device can be controlled from anywhere.
