AudioControl has begun shipping its Hyperion Series of home theater products, a network-centric lineup of immersive processors, multi-channel amplifiers and eARC-to-Dante converters first previewed at CEDIA Expo/CIX 2025. The series is positioned to support high-channel-count audio systems and distributed networked architectures that are becoming more common in advanced residential theater installations.

16-Channel Home Theater Processor

At the center of the lineup is the Hyperion APR-16 immersive surround processor, a 16-channel platform designed to accommodate complex home cinema configurations. The processor incorporates ESS Sabre digital-to-analog conversion and supports high-resolution audio formats up to 24-bit/192 kHz. It also provides extensive signal routing capabilities and an application programming interface intended to enable integration with third-party control systems. Built-in HDCP and EDID management aim to simplify interoperability with video sources and displays.

The APR-16 includes Dante and AES67 network audio support, reflecting growing demand for IP-based audio distribution in residential environments. A built-in four-port Ethernet switch with Dante capability is designed to streamline system deployment in multi-zone installations. AudioControl says future firmware updates will expand Dante functionality to support additional channel capacity.

Amplifiers and eARC-to-Dante converters, too

The Hyperion Series also includes three multi-channel amplifiers — Tetra, Penta and Hepta — offering four, five and seven channels of amplification. The amplifiers employ the company’s Class H amplification topology, which is designed to deliver high output power while reducing heat generation compared with traditional Class AB designs. Additional features include balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs, 12-volt trigger control and proprietary signal-management circuitry intended to protect loudspeakers during dynamic playback conditions. Native Dante/AES67 connectivity allows the amplifiers to function as part of a fully networked audio ecosystem.

Completing the lineup are Hyperion Axis eARC-to-Dante converters available in two-channel and 10-channel models. These devices extract high-bitrate audio from display-based sources and distribute it across Dante or AES67 networks. The higher-channel model includes onboard decoding for immersive audio formats as well as tuning and calibration tools, enabling system designers to manage processing closer to the network edge.

According to AudioControl, Hyperion products are designed to meet CEDIA/CTA-RP22 audio design benchmarks and to provide integrators with flexible system-implementation options as networked home theater design continues to evolve.
