Security system manufacturer Arlo Technologies has announced the rollout of Arlo Secure 6, the latest evolution of its home security subscription service that the company says is designed to deepen the contextual awareness of Arlo smart devices. The company says Secure 6 integrates advanced AI features aimed at improving both the precision of alerts and the speed at which users can respond to potential threats in and around their homes.

According to the company, its AI engine, branded Arlo Intelligence, powers the new capabilities and serves as the backbone of the platform’s push into more proactive, context-rich security. With Arlo Secure 6, users gain access to a range of new features including AI-based fire detection, expanded audio recognition, searchable video events, and automatically generated video summaries. The new version builds on previously available functions like person and vehicle recognition and introduces a more intuitive way to process captured footage.

One of the most noteworthy additions is fire detection. Arlo says Secure 6 uses AI to identify visible flames within a camera’s field of view and send real-time alerts, offering the potential to reduce response time in emergency situations. This capability joins a suite of audio detection tools that now includes scream, gunshot, dog bark, glass break, and smoke/CO alarm recognition. These audio-based alerts are designed to help users assess emergencies more accurately, even when visual confirmation is not immediately available.

In addition to real-time detection improvements, Arlo Secure 6 also aims to make reviewing security footage more efficient, the company asserts. With the introduction of Event Captions, users receive concise, AI-generated descriptions of recorded activity, eliminating the need to watch each clip in full. The new Video Search tool adds further utility by allowing users to locate specific moments within their video history using keywords, time filters, or brief descriptions.

CEO Matthew McRae emphasized that Arlo’s focus remains on pushing home security forward through meaningful AI enhancements. “Leveraging Arlo Intelligence, a high-performance smart security AI engine with robust detection and recognition capabilities, Arlo Secure 6 delivers a smarter, more personalized security experience that empowers quick and informed decision making,” McRae said in a statement.

The new features in Arlo Secure 6 will begin rolling out this month.
