Powerline Control Systems Announces 1.0 URC Driver

Published: April 29, 2020

Powerline Control Systems (PCS) has announced the release of the 1.0 version of the Universal Remote Control (URC) driver for UPB devices.

Several months ago, PCS contracted with Chowmain Software, a developer of integrations for automation systems, to develop a driver to integrate the PCS PulseWorx Gateway with URC. The PulseWorx Gateway is a standalone hub for local and remote control of all UPB devices in an installation. By developing this driver, URC installations can now interoperate with the full range of UPB devices.

To ensure the safety of each installation and use by UPB installers, Chowmain took the time to implement the full connection protocol of the PulseWorx Gateway. By doing so, UPB installers continue to have access to the Gateway for remote configuration of UPB devices without impacting security or Gateway usage by the URC system itself.

The URC driver and documentation are available on the PCS support website and ready for download at no cost to any PCS or URC installer or integrator.

PCS plans to continue driver development over the next months with Chowmain Software to add additional capabilities as we receive feedback from the field.
