The CEDIA Expo 2023 show is rapidly approaching. Scheduled to take place on Sept. 7-9 in Denver, Colo., the annual event is co-located with the Commercial Integrator Expo, which focuses on the commercial side of the electronics industry. Previewing some of the manufacturers exhibiting during the CEDIA Expo, Nick Fichte, director of sales for L-Acoustics (booth #4316), took some time to answer some questions about the company’s show plans:
CE Pro: Can you briefly explain what products and services your company provides?
Fichte: L-Acoustics is the world leader in live sound, providing audio reinforcement for some of the top-grossing artists, biggest festival stages, prestigious performing art centers and many more. L-Acoustics Creations is the division which brings this same professional audio technology to integrators who specialize in creating outstanding audio installations in homes and yachts.
CE Pro: Why did you decide to participate in the CEDIA Expo 2023 show in Denver?
Fichte: We first exhibited at CEDIA in 2021 and saw the potential that the show has to widen our audience with the home and marine systems integrators that visit. 2022 was a great show for us and we expect for 2023 to be our best yet.
CE Pro: How does your brand and its solutions fit into today’s home technology market?
Fichte: We have seen a trend for homeowners wanting to experience the quality of audio that they expect at their favorite venues, within their own homes. Our products are chosen by professionals to ensure natural but impactful reproduction of music on the biggest stages for the enjoyment of audiences from the most intimate club-goers to the most massive arena-sized crowds. Those audiences can now enjoy the same concert-grade experience in their own private spaces with friends and family in a far more intimate setting.
CE Pro: What makes your product line unique in the marketplace?
Fichte: There are few audio companies in the residential market which have the heritage of L-Acoustics. Our founder pioneered the use of line array and coaxial loudspeaker technology, revolutionizing the way that audio is experienced at live performances. Fast forward to today, and the innovations have not stopped. Our L-ISA immersive audio technology is truly ground-breaking and becoming even more relevant within the home where discerning owners look to create quality immersive sound.

CE Pro: How does your product line help professional integrators grow their businesses?
Fichte: We believe that our solutions offer integrators something new and unique to offer their customer base. While of course many of our end-users at home enjoy listening to music from a playback source, some also enjoy playing themselves. Our technology means that multi-purpose spaces can be far more flexible for those who may wish to DJ, sing or play instruments through their integrated L-Acoustics sound system without fear that they may cause damage to their high-end loudspeakers.
CE Pro: Is there any specific question that booth visitors should ask your team members to get the most of their booth visit experiences?
Fichte: How do I get to experience your listening lounge? This year for the first time at a U.S. trade show we have “The L-Acoustics Listening Lounge.” This is a Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 experience, where we have partnered with Storm Audio, Barco Residential, Stewart Filmscreen, Kaleidescape and Odysound.
CE Pro: Are there any promotional events that your company is holding during the show or training sessions that show attendees should be aware of?
Fichte: No.
CE Pro: Pulling out your crystal ball, how do you see the residential technology market evolving over the next few years?
Fichte: We believe that spatial audio will become a focus outside of the obvious rooms, whenever I say “what room do you think of when I say Dolby Atmos” the first thing that people say is “theater.” We truly believe that with companies like Odysound and Dolby Atmos, and music streamers such as Tidal and Apple Music offering a plethora of immersive content, people will want to experience this same spatial audio technology in other spaces around their property or yacht, whether that’s indoors or outdoors.
