Settled within a quiet, wooded space that provides a nice sanctuary to the nearby city of Atlanta, this Georgian smart home boasts a plethora of understated technological touches from Fusion Audio + Video that provide the utmost atmospheric immersion for the homeowners when they’re looking to relax.
A Sheltered Smart Home in the City of Atlanta
The Atlanta smart home boasts Control4 automation integrated with Control4 lighting as well as an expansive security system and Sony OLED TVs to match the quality of the Origin Acoustics and Sonos speakers found throughout the main bulk of the home, but special emphasis was placed in both outdoor and theater audio, to which the South Carolina-based Fusion was more than willing to provide.
Turning this Atlanta property from a traditional home into a smart home was not without its challenges, however. Having been called on mid-construction, the team at Fusion had to work with zero documentation or schematics on wiring, and to top it off: the sheetrock had already been installed, both of which lead to considerable delays.
“Fundamental tasks required significant workarounds,” said Mulford. “[But] because the client trusted Fusion to cut into their newly constructed home’s sheetrock and slate to accomplish the install, Fusion succeeded in delivering a completed project to client satisfaction.”
Immersive Atmos Home Theater Powered by McIntosh
Powered by a McIntosh surround sound system and fitted with Bowers & Wilkins speakers, the home theater is perhaps the pinnacle of the clients’ experience, according to Heidi Mulford, executive assistant for Fusion Audio + Video.

It also highlighted many of the challenges Fusion faced. Rewiring for Atmos layout, for instance, required reframing studs to install the back boxes for the in-wall and ceiling Bowers & Wilkins speakers. Meanwhile, to find speaker installations completed by the contractor, technicians had to tone for each location.
Acoustic fabric and panels help complete the ensemble, though, with a custom-measured Screen Innovations screen and Sony laser projector providing the video to the pristine audio. There’s also a custom Gemini constellation ceiling—a nod to the clients’ twins—and customized seating, altogether creating a truly unique home theater that lets the clients immerse themselves in the entertainment.
Timing of Project Entry Not Enough to Deter Fusion Audio + Video
Despite the smart home project taking place within the Atlanta area, the property provided plenty of woodland cover for the audio installation and, consequently, plenty of obstacles for the technicians to have to work around. Technicians had to work against landscape terrain to bury two Ambisonic subwoofers on an incline to produce the desired audio output.
Elsewhere in the house, the family room fireplace design also dictated an untraditionally high TV mount that involved the use of a mechanical lift and reframing the fireplace to recess the lift.
Luckily, Mulford noted that the patience and the trust provided by the clients allowed the team to navigate many of the challenges at a safe pace for the outcome of the project.
“Although the Fusion team started this project after the home was fully constructed, they accomplished installation and programming of a whole home system despite unforeseen obstacles,” finished Mulford. “This project proves that surpassing client expectations with outstanding, reliable systems is always attainable.”
