With most of the content in the 4K world coming from streaming sources such as Netflix and Amazon, there is a demand for physical media that provides higher bit rates and higher levels of overall image quality.
Filling the niche for consistent quality content, the popular electronics manufacturer Yamaha has just introduced two new Blu-ray disc players that incorporate 4K upscaling technologies.
The newly introduced BD-S861 and AVENTAGE BD-A1060 Blu-ray disc players utilize “advanced 4K UltraHD upscaling technology to turn high-definition source material into crystal clear images for today's premium big-screen 4K televisions,” says the company.
“Yamaha Blu-ray disc players have always delivered the most immersive experiences in picture quality and music fidelity and our latest models continue that tradition,” notes Bob Goedken, general manager, A/V division, Yamaha. “The Yamaha BD-S861 and AVENTAGE BD-A1060 seamlessly and effortlessly deliver the highest quality playback of multiple audio and video formats, and provide 4K video upscaling with the precision and reliability our customers expect.”
Both Blu-ray disc players feature built-in Wi-Fi networking to access disc-based options such as BD Live, and the Wi-Fi supports the streaming of music directly from a mobile device to the player for playback in an A/V system. The players also support the playback of 3D discs, DVDs, SACDs and standard CD, and Yamaha points out the products include a “CD mode” that slows disc revolution by 30 percent to reduce unwanted disc vibration.
Yamaha states the BD-S861 Blu-ray disc player is designed to complement its RX-V81 line of A/V receivers, while the AVENTAGE disc player matches the performance standard set by the rest of the AVENTAGE line.
Addressing the high-resolution audio formats the BD-S861 features a USB port and a 24-bit/192kHz DAC that can play DSD files. The AVENTAGE BD-A1060 includes a 32-bit/192kHz DAC, a high-purity power supply, magnetically shielded independent circuit boards, and a front panel made of high-grade steel with internal steel dampening for added rigidity.
In addition, the AVENTAGE BD-A1060 Blu-ray disc player also includes professional-grade XLR connections that provide noise-free connectivity options for analog applications.
