This retrofit project required creativity and ingenuity from VIA to meet the technology needs of a young business owner, plus the Scottsdale, Ariz. home’s unique layout and concrete block construction. Success, in a way, also generated new challenges, as the happy client made a dozen change orders during the install to expand the home’s features.
Much came after initial drywall; VIA’s running extra wire allowed the crew to accommodate the requests without refurbishing. After nearly two months, including more than two weeks of additional retrofits, the completed system rivals any high end integrated home VIA has worked on or seen, the integrator says.
Media Rooms with Visual Appeal
The 20-foot vaulted ceilings were between two flat-roof structures and made running new wires or utilizing Wi-Fi difficult. And one of the two full-scale media rooms was installed on the second floor that connects to the vaulted ceiling section.
The primary family room includes a Marantz 7.2-channel A/V receiver with AirPlay, 65-inch Samsung, Savant HDBaseT receiver and remote. The master bedroom has a 55-inch Samsung on a full-motion mount, Leon Speakers audio and Savant in-wall iPad Mini dock.
The game room also has a Marantz AVR and Savant HDBaseT receiver, along with an 80-inch Sharp LED TV and in-wall Sonance Cinema Subwoofer.
Catering to Lifestyle & Aesthetics
Whole-house audio is distributed via Savant; Lutron lighting includes 85 individual switches; and security/ surveillance incorporates GE Security and four IC Realtime cameras. VIA ran piping under the pool deck to handle tricky integration of four fireplaces and five fire pits with specific gas pressure distance requirements.
The integrated and automated scent machines (producing eight aromas, released based on time of day), motorized sliding doors, landscape lighting, mist machines and more perfectly suit the client’s lifestyle.
Further, painstaking alignment of wires along the tongue-and-groove ceiling, blended speakers and outdoor access points illustrated VIA’s commitment to adhering to the “invisible” results the client wanted most.
