Audio Breakthroughs knows that building great sound in a basement theater can be tricky. Soundproofing the room can make the difference between a superb experience and having Aunt Martha pounding a broomstick on the kitchen floor from above yelling to keep the noise down.
“Creating an amazing theater experience is our goal for every theater project but designing a reference quality Atmos system that won’t disturb the rest of the household presents a real challenge,” admits Spencer Clark, vice president at Audio Breakthroughs. “By combining innovative equipment and expert design, we were able to craft an amazing theater experience with proper sound containment.”
AcousticSmart Wraps Basement in Custom Acoustic Paneling
So how did they do it? Audio Breakthroughs had AcousticSmart engineer a design utilizing proven construction techniques and custom acoustic panels. This level of isolation created an absolutely amazing acoustic environment. This in combination with theater equipment from Martin Logan, Anthem and SVS created one of Audio Breakthroughs’ best theater rooms ever, according to Clark.
During a basement renovation, the client visited the company’s showroom to look at different home theater system options. After seeing a 4K projection system from Sony with a Stewart Filmscreen ALR Phantom screen, the client fell in love with the idea of doing a true home theater but was nervous about the sound quality.
“He wanted the ability to have friends over to watch games, enjoy a movie night with family and have the awesome sound he heard in our demo theater without disturbing the rest of the household,” says Clark. “Since it was a gut renovation we were able to work with the contractor and brought in AcousticSmart to design the best soundproofing possible while optimizing the sound quality of the theater.”
