JVC is perennially a top five projector manufacturer in CE Pro's annual Top 100 Brand Analysis. Helping to ensure it stays at the top of the charts, the company announced six new projectors at CES 2017.
Designed for the custom installation market, the projectors feature improvements in the areas of contrast ratios and brightness. JVC points out the projectors also incorporate low-latency and auto detect HDR modes.
The projectors, which fall under its Procision Series (DLA-X970R, DLA-X770R and DLA-X570R) and Reference Series (DLA-RS620, DLA-RS520 and DLA-RS420) product lines, offer a number of key improvements over previous generation product, such as improved optics and new 265-watt high-power lamps that enable the projectors to produce these following brightness levels.
- DLA-X970R/RS620: 2,000lm
- DLA-X770R/RS520: 1,900lm
- DLA-X570R/RS420: 1,800lm
Keeping pace with the ever evolving formats and technologies that hit the market, the projectors offer HDCP2.2 on both of their respective inputs. JVC says two HDCP2.2 devices can be connected at the same time to the projectors, and the inputs support data transfer rates up to 18Gbps. This compatibility enables 4K at 60Hz, as well as 4:4:4 color sampling, and 4K at 24Hz, 4:4:4 36-bit.
The projectors also offer improved contrast ratios and high dynamic range compatibility for all six products. JVC explains that when the HDR mode is enabled the projectors will automatically switch to HDR picture mode when the HDR10 format is detected. The DLA-X970R/RS620 and DLA-770R/RS520 projectors also offer the new Hybrid Log-Gamma HDR standard for broadcast and streaming content HDR compatibility.
Other improvements to the 2017 line include the low-latency mode that reduces frame delay for improved gaming action, and JVC's MPC (Multiple Pixel Control) that is said to deliver more accurate diagonal detection between frames for HD and Ultra HD to provide a more immersive 4K image.
In addition, the products also employ the company's latest generation e-shift4 pixel shifting technlogy, as well as its Motion Enhance technology that is said to minimize motion blur by optimizing the projector's D-ILA devices in combination with their Clear Motion Drive technology.
The DLA-X970R/RS620, DLA-X770R/RS520 projectors are also THX certified. JVC says that in order for the projectors to obtain this designation, they had to pass more than 400 tests to meet THX criteria for certification. The certification enables the projectors to produce a video experience in-line with Hollywood post-production facilitaties, and the projectors' THX viewing modes offer calibration straight from the box.
The latest JVC Procision Series and Reference Series projectors range in price from $4,000 to $10,000.
