Araknis Networks, a Snap One networking brand, is launching new switches and routers compatible with Snap One’s OvrC cloud management tool designed for high-speed processing and communication.

According to Snap One, the next-generation commercial-grade switches and routers are designed for high-speeds and supporting advanced use cases including building management systems, 4×4 Wi-Fi 6 and high-bandwidth installations.

The company says the new switches have Layer 3 functionality and speeds up to 10Gbps to maximize high-speed ISP services and optimize Wi-Fi 6 and AVoIP performance.

The new devices include the Araknis 620 Series managed switches which provide 8 or 24 RJ45 ports with 1/2.5Gbps capability, as well as two 10Gbps SFP+ uplinks. In addition to full Layer 2 functionality such as MAC-based VLANs, link aggregation, QoS, IGMP Snooping, STP and LLDP, the 620 series also provides some Layer 3 functions including static IP routing, the company says.

Each port supports the 802.3BT Type 3 PoE++ standard, providing up to 60W of power per port to enable new applications like PoE lighting, surveillance and network audio.

The Araknis 920 Series, meanwhile, offers OvrC-compatible 12- and 24-port managed switches that offer that provide RJ45 ports with 10Gbps connections and 90W Type 4 PoE++ capability. Both models offer expansion models to add one or two slots for 100Gbps QSFP28 uplinks respectively, the company says.

The 920 Series provides Layer 3 functionality including interVLAN routing, static routing and multicast routing, plus typical Layer 2 features such as MoIPv3 required ACL’s, IGMP snooping & querier, MAC-based VLANs, link aggregation, QoS, STP and LLDP.

At launch, the 920 Series will also include a supplementary power supply module that provides power redundant and additional PoE power designed for demanding projects, according to Snap One.

In addition to the switches, Snap One is also introducing two new routers: the 220 Series Single-Wan VPN Router and the 520 Series Dual-WAN VPN Router. Both feature the OvrC platform, which can help reduce manual set up time by providing cloud-based access to manage networks, Snap One says.

Both routers also offer OvrC Pro and its network management tools that the company says extend visibility across an entire network of IP devices, including third-party products.

The 220 Series features 2.5Gbps speeds and support for basic VPN capabilities and advanced network functionality such as VLANs, QoS, and port forwarding. The core processor is improved from previous router models to support higher network activity. The router’s embedded firewall supports Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), Denial of Service (DoS) prevention, and WAN Request Blocking, the company says.

Meanwhile, the 520 Series is designed for larger projects requiring multi-gig support with support for a full 2.5Gbps throughout with a 1Gps secondary WAN for load balancing or link-failover applications. The router features a faster processor for higher network activity as well as advanced VPN capabilities such as site-to-site, VLAN, QoS and port forwarding, the company says.

According to Snap One, the 520 series router supports IPSec, which can create a secure, fast, and reliable site-to-site connection for applications where two locations need to be part of the same network.

Mathias Bullmer, senior product manager for networking, routers and switches at Snap One, says ISP providers are offering increasingly faster speeds, and the new switches and routers help customers tap into those speeds securely.

“With cutting-edge features including the latest power-over-ethernet capabilities and Layer 3 functionality, these new switches support today’s most demanding networked media experiences and business needs,” Bullmer says in a statement.

“These new network solutions are ideal for forward-thinking Partners and customers who recognize the importance of building infrastructure that will support future applications and media formats,” Bullmer adds. “The added peace of mind and operational support offered by VPN security and professional OvrC management further increases the value for both clients and Partners, ensuring long-term satisfaction and operational excellence.”
