CEDIA Expo 2021 in Indianapolis is like a “home game,” so to speak, for shades and screens specialist Draper.
The Spiceland, Ind.-based company, just a short drive from the Indiana Convention Center, will be highlighting its latest solutions in booth 4300 on the show floor during the Sept. 1-3 event (register here).
Penny Sitler, director of marketing for Draper, is excited for CEDIA Expo – back in Indianapolis for the first time since 2021 – to be the home for the launch of the Draper@Home motorized window shades, a very hot category in the custom industry.
The new product might be a modern solution for the CEDIA channel, but it leverages quite a rich history of manufacturing for the company, she notes.
“Draper has been a manufacturer of window shades for well over 100 years – we have really been working on getting it right,” Sitler tells CE Pro. “We have, I think it is fair to say, the broadest and deepest line of roller-operated shades of any manufacturer in this space.”
The Spiceland, Ind.-made products feature Phifer and Mermet fabric colors and textures to help provide that variety for integration customers, she says. Not relying on off-shore supply chain for the products has aided the company and its dealers during the challenging pandemic manufacturing environment, Sitler adds.
Draper Booth Spotlights Locally Made Products, Specialized Offerings
Draper will show CEDIA Expo attendees a range of its shade solutions that include indoor/outdoor, mostly motorized and powered by Somfy, Sitler notes, with additional design wrinkles like exterior Venetian blinds, outdoor skylight coverings and more.
“Some very specialized stuff as well as the kind of automated shading that you would expect to see,” Sitler says.
Beyond shades, the company’s booth will also spotlight its Foundation LED mount and TecVision ALR (ambient light rejecting) surfaces technology for its projection screens. She says the Draper line encompasses 11 different formulas for projection surfaces, “every one of them ISF certified. No other manufacturer has met that challenge.”
