As interior design and aesthetic continue to play a greater part in custom integration projects, digital art provider/curator Blackdove has launched a portfolio of solutions to assist dealers.

Blackdove, which will be looking to engage with integrators about this burgeoning opportunity at CEDIA Expo 2021 in booth #3331 of the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, says its system comprises a hardware media player, purpose-built displays, a control and management app, and a digital artwork subscription service.

Furthermore, Blackdove says its system can instantly serve up any work of digital art to any display in the world, with NFT blockchain registration and end-to-end encryption, the company notes of its modern and secure offering. Blackdove is among the handful of companies that have really pushed digital art for the channel since debuting at CEDIA Expo a few years back, and the category has been among the opportunities in design and wellness.

Dealers Can Get Design Savvy with Digital Art

“Luxury clients consistently seek novel design elements that will set their spaces apart. Blackdove repositions displays as digital art installations,” the company says. “No longer at odds with the aesthetics of a luxury space, large screens and video walls become a central design element with the implementation of Blackdove.”

Additionally, Blackdove says it has established partnerships with popular third-party control providers like Crestron, Savant and Control4.

After a dealer specifies a project, Blackdove’s art advisors can work directly with the client, design partners, or client representative to choose the proper digital art at no additional cost to the dealer or client, the company explains.

“We recently undertook a major upgrade for a client in Miami, which included adding Blackdove and updating Crestron. The installation was seamless and quick,” integrator AHT Global says of its experience as a digital art integrator.

“Blackdove worked with our client to select video art that greatly appeals to him. This is yet another highly successful client install with Blackdove and we look forward to many more.”

Blackdove Art Server, Digital Canvas Facilitate Easy Integration

The Blackdove Art Server, pre-loaded with the company’s software, allows any display to connect to the Blackdove digital art gallery. The slim device can be installed in a rack or behind a screen and connects to the Blackdove cloud via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.

The Art Server has a single 4K 60Hz HDMI output, and an SSD drive for locally caching client art collections, Blackdove says. For large-scale applications, The company can create customized Art Servers with resolutions up to 26K.

“For our sixth install with Blackdove, we used a Blackdove Art Server to deliver video art via Savant’s VOIP to multiple displays throughout a client’s penthouse, including the B&O Harmony and Samsung Frame,” says Ken Johnson, owner of Premiere Systems. “The client gave us rave reviews about how much he and his guests enjoy seeing art across the screens in his residence.”

For purpose-built digital artwork projects, integrators may opt for a Blackdove Digital Canvas, a high-definition commercial display screen with integrated Art Server. Available up to 98 inches, the Digital Canvas is designed for continuous operation and can mount in portrait or landscape orientation, the company says. 

Installing the Art Server or Digital Canvas typically takes 15 minutes or less, according to the company. Blackdove’s remote integration team is available to log in and support the onsite dealer to complete the system configuration if required.
