Research shows that 80% of homeowner insurance claims are weather-related in some way. This includes hurricanes, tornadoes, thunderstorms and even wildfires. In response to this, HomeZada has come up with its own weather alert solution for homeowners looking to stay one step ahead of weather disasters.
Created by project management professionals back in 2012, HomeZada positions itself as “the home industry’s first and only fully integrated, cloud-based platform dedicated to digital home management.” The Northern California company offers an all-in-one suite of apps with functions that range from scheduling home maintenance and repairs, to documenting inventory for insurance, to managing finances associated with the property.
Starting September 1st, HomeZada began instituting an AI service to send subscribing homeowners weather-related alerts and prep recommendations tailored all the way down to their property specifics.
The new feature is an extension of HomeZada’s “Zada” AI Chat Assistant, which itself launched in June. The most recent update constantly monitors the National Weather Service and sends a geotargeted email, push notificiation, and/or in-app notice to subscribing HomeZada homeowners in the path of a potentially destructive storm.
The app will also send a list of AI-generated suggestions for homeowners on ways to protect their home and minimize the risk of damage.
This new update comes following the federal government’s release of its new Climate Resilience Framework, which has seen the release of multiple resources for building professionals and contractors contributing towards building more climate resilient communities.
As John Bodrozic, HomeZada co-founder explains, most homeowners struggle with keeping up to date on all the weather events that could impact them. What makes the HomeZada solution so valuable in this regard, he says, is that the platform can use specific location data, as well as inherent home knowledge to identify which threats are the most pertinent to homeowners.
According to Bordrozic, the alerts also combine with HomeZada’s insurance documentation feature to ensure homeowners are properly insured and prepared in case they need to make a claim. In the end, he believes this new feature helps homeowners gain peace of mind by better protecting their largest financial asset.
Bordrozic also states that HomeZada help homeowners schedule maintenance and repairs, as well as streamline remodeling projects and manage all finances associated with the home.
