Providing dealers with a consumer-friendly way to add 16:9 compatibility to a Cinemascope system, Seymour-Screen Excellence (SSE) has introduced its Retro Masking System.
The Midwestern manufacturer first showed this solution back at CEDIA Expo 2022, and SSE says that its latest product is a cost-effective accessory that adds 16:9 motorized masking to its 2.40:1 screens that range from 100 inches to 300 inches in size. The acoustically transparent screen company explains the Retro Masking System employs a set of housings finished in black velvet that attach to the top left and right of a screen frame. SSE goes on to note the that inside each housing is a sheer-black acoustically transparent piece of masking that is driven by a 24-volt DC motor.
According to the company, the housings with the acoustically transparent material operate in tandem and the system is powered by a wall switch and power supply. The Retro Masking System also comes with an RF remote control, and SSE emphasizes that its latest product can also be integrated into third-party control systems to deliver higher levels of user friendliness.
SSE adds that regardless of the size of the screen that dealers are mating the masking system to, the solution comes with a standard price of $1,195.
