With so many different types of entertainment options available to consumers, having a product that’s versatile enough to deliver a wide range of content is key. Denon epitomizes this approach with the launch of its first stereo network receiver with wireless music streaming and 4K HDMI capabilities, the $499 DRA-800H.
Featuring a newly designed L/R symmetric stereo power amplifier design, the Hi-Fi stereo receiver delivers superb audio fidelity from a variety of sources—including wireless music, CD and phono—while a full-featured HDMI section with 4K Ultra HD support offers the latest 4K and HDR video pass-through capability, ARC (audio return channel) and smart remote management.
“Designed for the two-channel music enthusiast that wants the power, precision and detail found in Denon amplifiers without having to compromise on A/V features such as 4K HDMI,” says Michael Greco, senior director, global brand management at Sound United.
“The DRA-800H truly leverages both Denon’s HiFi heritage and A/V receiver technical leadership, offering a mixture of dedicated Hi-Fi amplification, circuitry and carefully selected components to easily drive a two-channel listening system alongside an advanced HDMI suite that supports full 4K Ultra HD 60Hz video with ARC.”
Denon Receiver Works With Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant
The DRA-800H delivers 100 watts per channel (8ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, THD: 0.08%, 2ch driven). Featuring double differential DAC circuitry, audio grade components and short signal path PCB layouts, the pre-power amplifier section helps reduce unwanted signal noise and achieve higher audio quality, according to Denon.
With low impedance driver capability, the DRA-800H offers greater stability with a wide range of floor-standing and bookshelf loudspeakers for balanced, quality sound.
Boasting AKM 32-bit D/A converters, the DRA-800H features high-resolution audio decoding with multiple lossless file types, including ALAC, FLAC and WAV at up to 24-bit/196 kHz.
It’s also compatible with 2.8/5.6-MHz DSD files (DSD is the audio coding format of SACD). Content from memory devices is accessible via the front panel USB, or over network sources. The stereo network receiver also supports other file types like MP3 and WMA.

The DRA-800H features five HDMI inputs and one output, which support 4K Ultra HD 60Hz video, 4:4:4 Pure Color sub sampling, High Dynamic Range (HDR10), Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG), 3D, and BT.2020 pass-through support.
HDCP 2.3 processing is available on all HDMI ports, enabling users to enjoy copy-protected content. An HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) port also enables seamless transmission of audio directly from a smart TV to the receiver through the connected HDMI cable.
The DRA-800H works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Josh.ai and Apple Siri. Built-in HEOS enables wireless multi-room music streaming across compatible HEOS components from a variety of free and premium streaming services, including Spotify, Pandora, Amazon Music, Tidal and more.
The DRA-800H offers IP control capability for major third-party control devices and Control4 SDPP (Simple Device Detection Protocol) certification for integration with Control4 home automation equipment. The receiver also features an IR (infrared) remote control jack on the rear panel for remote control.
The compatibility with major remote monitoring and management services (Domotz Pro, ihiji Invision and OvrC) is offered for custom integrators to help reduce downtime of the system.
