Big things can come in small packages, and Lutron’s new high-tech tiny home experience is certainly proof of that. To reinforce the impact and importance of light in a space, Lutron erected a tiny home in the parking lot of the Renaissance Hotel and Spa in Glendale, Ariz., during Lightapalooza 2023.
The 400 square-foot tiny home was designed and built by Phoenix-based company Cavco Homes with the integration by integrator Jesse Silva of The PAVE (The ProView Audio Video Experience) based in Phoenix. Silva has been working with Cavco bringing automation to their tiny homes and says the tiny home trend is continuing to gain steam, noting that Cavco is inundated with orders. For the tiny home at Lightapalooza, Silva was able to install the technology in less than four hours when the home was brought on site. (You could still smell the paint and the freshness of the wood.)
The home includes 13 Lutron Palladiom wirefree shades which have a minimal profile and refined aesthetic, five Palladiom keypads, which feature an intuitive design with backlit buttons and engraved text for a sleek, minimalist look, and a variety of Ketra intelligent lighting solutions, including S30 lamps, an S30 track, A20 lamps, and Lightbar Slim undercabinet lighting.
During Lightapalooza, the home gave visitors the opportunity to experience the exceptional features of Ketra lighting, including Natural Show, which is a 40-second demo that shows the lights in the shifting their color temperature over the course of the day to match sunlight, plus other features like vibrancy, high-def palette, 0.1% dimming range and warm dim features.
At the event, demos were conducted by Abbi Gamm, collaboration studio manager at Ketra based in Austin. The tour begins in the open-concept living room/kitchen that showcases multiple shades, architectural, track, decorative and linear lighting. In the bedroom, the demo showed how light not only can change the appearance of artwork, but also the finishes of the furniture.

“Lutron is thrilled to make its Lightapalooza debut in a unique and experiential way,” said David Weinstein, Vice President of Residential Sales. “Demonstrating the lifestyle-enhancing benefits of Ketra lighting solutions and Palladiom wire-free shades in an actual home setting is a powerful tool that will help dealers better understand the business-building opportunity that comes with incorporating these products into their projects.”
