TEAC, a global audio equipment manufacturer since 1953, has announced its new AP-507 Reference 500 series compact stereo power amplifier with a Hypex NCOREx TEAC custom module and an A4 “letter size” footprint. The amp joins a comprehensive ecosystem of 500 Series components designed to give music enthusiasts and audiophiles complete control and flexibility in building or fine-tuning their home audio systems.
How Does the AP-507 Get So Small?
TEAC points out the size of the AP-507 stereo amplifier is made possible via the company’s own custom tuned new generation NCOREx power amplifier module–manufactured by Hypex in the Netherlands. The company suggests the advanced “x” generation NCORE technology delivers an immersive, three-dimensional soundstage and a more expansive spatial presence. At the heart of the amp’s audio capabilities is TEAC’s in-house designed dual-mono buffer amplifier, refined with attention to component and circuit detail for unparalleled clarity and richness the company notes.
- This, the company touts gives the speaker its compact shape while delivering 170 watt +170 watt (4 ohm) output on a stereo or bi-amp setup and 350 watts (8 ohm) on a BTL connection.
- Additionally, the amp comes with supports that allow it to be placed on alternative surfaces, like desktops, as well as stress-less Isolation feet that are designed for clear focus and natural timbre–though it does feature large screw-type speaker binding posts as well. It’s fan-less design also means it comes with a smaller noise profile as well when its running.
What Are its Other Features?
Available in black and silver finishes, the AP-507 sports a rugged aluminum and steel chassis with a semi-Floating 2.8mm (0.11 inches) thick aluminum top panel and dual pointer VU meters with a 4-step dimmer and 2-step sensitivity switch. The amp also comes with XLR and RCA inputs and can either be used as a standalone stereo unit or paired for advanced configurations through its aforementioned bi-amp or high-power BTL mode.
TEAC also asserts the amp’s compact size and versatility also make it a good choice for supporting immersive audio systems.
- The amplifier also employs a proprietary dual-mono buffer amplifier that has been retuned for superior sound quality in addition to sporting a fully balanced circuit design on all stages.
- And, in tandem with an automatic power-saving function, the AP-507 sports a high capacity power supply with a large toroidal transformer 18,800 μF capacitors par channel.
