When homeowners use the Roku platform as their entertainment guide, exploring popular apps—plus free movies, shows, and Live TV—is easy to navigate through a soon-to-be-released OS update.
Recently during the Roku Developer’s Summit, the global smart home company announced new features that are all about bringing convenience and fun to consumers streaming experiences when using the Roku platform.Â
In 2019 Roku launched a Kids & Family destination within The Roku Channel, making it easier for children and parents to find a selection family-friendly shows for free.Â
Now as part of its upcoming new OS, the company is bringing the Kids & Family zone to its home screen, with quick access to a newly expanded content library of more than 50,000 titles, from popular streaming apps across the platform at users’ fingertips.Â
The immersive kid-centric experience delivers a curated selection of content that not only highlights a diverse selection of kids programming—from family movie nights to popular series and it also organizes it by age range, genre, and series. Through this new design homeowners can even discover fun row titles that kids will love, like Animated Movies, Characters, Sibling Special, Teen Movies & TV, and more.Â
Rokus suggests that through these OS updates, users will no longer stay up late searching for the perfect movie for family night. Now, Roku asserts, homeowners can seamlessly find and watch all their kids and family favorites in the revamped Kids & Family destination.Â
Other features the company is set to offer include its new thumbs up and thumbs down icons that lets users can know if they liked or disliked the show or movie you just watched. The more you engage with this feature, the better Roku says it can tailor its recommendations to match users interests and make their experience with the Roku platform effortless.
Roku adds the upcoming OS will also offer content pages where users can watch trailers, check IMDb ratings, browse through episodes and more.Â
