Leviton has been taking steps to grow its lighting, energy and smart home capabilities over the course of the last few years by announcing an energy management platform and partnering with Samsung SmartThings.
“As a leading lighting manufacturer in sustainability, performance and design, ConTech Lighting is a perfect fit into the Leviton family of products, brands and services,” says Don Hendler, CEO of Leviton. “We are excited to enhance Leviton’s lighting offerings and broaden our portfolio of solutions for customers together with ConTech Lighting.”
ConTech is Leviton's second in the U.S. lighting industry after it acquired Intense Lighting, an LED luminaire manufacturer, in May 2015. The acquisition represents Leviton's growth in the lighting category and suggests a heightened awareness of sustainable lighting and energy management.
The ConTech website explains its sustainability philosophy:
At ConTech Lighting, we believe that lighting can be energy efficient, while providing high-quality performance and outstanding aesthetic design. With the latest technology and correct application, it is possible to cut energy costs and improve lighting quality to increase the productivity of your space; we call this EcoTechnology. This mission of EcoTechnology applies to our products as well as our daily operations; from materials, manufacturing and transportation, to the disposal process for our products and by-products.
- Our LED fixture offering is constantly evolving. We are rapidly expanding our Track, Recessed, Pendant, Accent and Emergency lines to incorporate LED energy saving fixtures.
- We utilize innovative product and application solutions, including StopAire® recessed fixtures, Energy Star qualified fixtures, Title 24 compliant products, and our Custom Fixture Rating Label Service.
- Many of our factories have one or more sustainable initiative, including recycling waste water and excess materials. We use recycled materials whenever possible, including paper (catalogs and cartons), glass (pendants), and metal (fixtures).
- We are directly involved with organizations which develop sustainability standards including the U.S. Green Building Council, U.S. Department of Energy, Energy Star, the IESNA, and the High Performance Commercial Green Building Partnership.
Following the acquisition, John Ranshaw, president and CEO of ConTech Lighting, will report to Daryoush Larizadeh, president and COO of Leviton. Leviton and ConTech Lighting will continue to maintain their separate agent networks and distribution channels following the acquisition.
“ConTech Lighting has developed a reputation as a lighting manufacturer committed to providing the best fixture design and product engineering available,” says Ranshaw. “Under the leadership of and collaboration with Leviton, we look forward to developing even more innovative solutions for our customers for many years to come.”
