With CEDIA 2017 so close, CE Pro spoke to Noah Kaplan, founder and CEO, Leon Speakers, about what the company has in store for CEDIA attendees in booth #5300 at the San Diego Convention Center.
What would you say to dealers who are stumbling across your company for the first time?
At Leon we lead with vision. Our vision is to mix art with audio, design with technology, and business with bohemia. We’re a group of artists, designers, engineers, musicians and craftsmen.
All of our products are a reflection of this vision. Every product is handcrafted from authentic materials and designed with style & performance in mind.
What would you say to dealers who are already familiar with your product line?
After 20 years, we’re just getting started. We’re constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible when it comes to audio. We’re investing in new technology, people and equipment to better serve our clients.
If a dealer/integrator stops by your booth with only 5 minutes to spare, what’s the one product he should examine or one question he should ask?
Our new Horizon Interactive FIT soundbar is an absolute game changer.
From the front, it’ll look like our custom, handcrafted Leon Horizon soundbar. Behind the grill, our patent-pending Horizon Interactive FIT combines high-fidelity audio with dedicated internal storage space to discreetly house small AV components such as Apple TV, Amazon Echo Dot, Roku, Leon’s own OTO-MCA modular amp, and more.
Unlike any other solution, the HI FIT allows the end user to integrate things like voice control, video streaming, video conferencing and power, right into their soundbar.
Think of your closest competitor (company or product). What is one thing you offer that they don’t?
We have a deep passion for music, art and audio and that drives everything we do. We dedicate ourselves to making the best-sounding, design-driven speakers in the industry.
We see it from the end customer’s perspective and we work tirelessly to meet their needs, striving for perfection. We pay attention to the details, hand-crafting custom products in America that our customers love listening to and are truly proud of.
Why are you looking forward to CEDIA coming to San Diego for the first time?
We’ve got big plans to really enjoy all that San Diego has to offer.
At the top of our list, we’re hosting our top tier dealers and industry partners on a sunset harbor cruise around San Diego Bay to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We’ll be bringing our Leon Loft show experience, which we host regularly at our headquarters in Ann Arbor, to our guests on the cruise. We have invited Johnnyswim to perform an acoustic set live on the boat and a local Ann Arbor radio host, Rob Reinhart, will be conducting an interview with the group. It’ll be a phenomenal night with some special surprises in-store for our guests.

Do you have any course offerings at CEDIA?
Not this year, but we’ve created Webex trainings for any dealer to participate in pre and post show.
Do you have any giveaways, contests or quirky features planned for CEDIA?
You have to come and check out our booth. It’s our 20th anniversary and we’ve completely revamped our presence at CEDIA with our largest booth yet that includes some amazing features.
First, we pay homage to our roots in the arts. We’ve commissioned a renowned Detroit street artist, Pat Perry, to create a large-scale, audio-inspired mural that will be on display across the entirety of 2 exterior walls.
Second, on display, we’ll have a beautifully restored 1967 Airstream trailer, completely decked out in Leon style with Leon products, that has made a cross-country road-trip to the show.
Finally, our booth will be packed with new products on display. From our new, audiophile-grade SEVENs line to our award-winning Horizon Interactive FIT soundbar to now having the ability to power everything from our new auxiliary amp, the OTO MCA, every wall includes exciting, category-leading innovation.
