Key Digital, the New York-based signal management and signal distribution company, has announced its latest product: the KD-X222PO HDBaseT HDMI signal extender. The product utilizes the HDBaseT protocol to transmit a variety of A/V signals over a single Cat-5e/Cat-6 cable with full automatic adustment of feedback, equalization and amplification depending on the length of cable used to make connections.
According to the company, the KD-X222PO features power from the transmission (Tx) to receiver (Rx) via Power over HDBaseT to eliminate the need for power at the receiver end.
Highlighting some of the A/V formats the KD-X222PO supports, Key Digital says the unit is compatible with 4096×2160 and 3840×2160 at 24/25/30Hz refresh rates at 4:4:4 8-bit chroma subsampling, as well as 60Hz Ultra HD at 4:2:0 8-bit chroma subsampling, and 1920 x 1080.
Some of the other formats and technologies the HDBaseT HDMI extender supports include 1920×1200, Ultra HD Deep Color at 30Hz 4:2:2 12-bit, high-dynamic range (HDR) and 3D video content.
Key Digital KD-X222PO Transmits Long Range 4K HDMI Signals
The extender is able to transmit 30Hz Ultra HD 4K content as far as 150 feet using Key Digital KD-CAT6ARP1X cabling, and 125 feet when using CAT5e/6UTP/STP cabling.
Key Digital also emphasizes the KD-X222PO is fully compliant with HDCP 2.2 copyright protection, and it is backwards compatible with older media formats and protection schemes.
Offering a choice of control formats, Key Digital says the product incorporates an IR sensor that's powered via 5-volt port on the receiver unit's IR, and its in-port collects line-of-sight IR from remotes without needing an external IR connectiong block. The KD-X222PO also includes RS-232 for two-way communications via the HDMI extender's phoenix connector.
Ensuring HDMI signal integrity, the KD-X222PO employs an internal EDID library with 15 default configurations, as well as Hot Plug Detection Control that enables integrators that ability to choose to use active signal voltage, and a full buffer system that manages TMDS reclocking and signal regeneration that includes HDCP authentication and EDID handshake.
Supporting audio, the KD-X222PO HDBaseT HDMI Extender transmits the Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Atmos and DTS-HD Master Audio surround sound formats.
In addition, the HDBaseT HDMI extender integrates into control systems from companies such as AMX, Compass Control, Crestron, RTI, Savant and URC.
