For this bespoke build in the North of England, the client of Finite Solutions wanted a high spec home with high quality lighting design and control. Working alongside Design by Uber, the team worked to ensure the architectural lighting specified complimented the cabinetry and other architectural features, in addition to the many artworks housed therein.
Design by Uber was also able to provide unique feature lighting for each space. This left Finite Solutions to find the right control system to tie everything together. Ultimately, the team settled on Lutron for easy access to mood and security lighting. This also came with the added benefit of fitting into a wider home automation system for the clients.
Bespoke Lighting and Intelligent Controls Create On-Demand Ambience
The circuit design for the Lutron lighting control system was carefully considered for flexibility. This allowed the bespoke lighting elements of each room to be lit in whatever mood desired. Additionally, with the Lutron homeowner app, previous settings could be easily recalled over custom engraved light switches, creating the ideal atmosphere for the clients as they deemed fit.
In total, the house was equipped with 160 Lutron Homeworks QS circuits and 43 Lutron See Touch metal engraved switches with both the building and gardens receiving comprehensive lighting treatment. This, according to Finite, provided the perfect atmosphere both inside and out.
The system was also hooked up into the greater Crestron smart home system to allow the client to control the lighting of each room remotely, which could be done either through Crestron’s wall touch panels or the app.

The combination of the systems also ensured that the client’s home would be equipped with both reliable and efficient smart home technology, allowing them to easily adjust the set-up at any time. In turn, they could create a comfortable, inviting atmosphere while also keeping energy costs low.
The Crestron system also adds an additional layer of intelligence and security through the inclusion of schedules. While the homeowners can now use timers to automate lighting routines, these same routines can be incorporated as part of the external security detection system.
Now when the clients are away from home lights will automatically turn on both internally and externally to deter any potential intruders. Of course, this extra layer of protection gives the clients peace of mind and security, transforming the beautiful bespoke lighting that helps define the interior.
