Over the past decade the home AV market has been bolstered by the rapid maturation of technologies such as wireless audio and immersive audio.
Helping integrators to learn about these technologies, as well as other rapidly growing technologies such as AV over IP, and traditional audio technologies is the CEDIA Expo 2022 educational slate of training seminars.Â
This year’s show, which takes place in Dallas, Texas during the week of Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, will play host to a full schedule of classes from the trade organization CEDIA and an array of manufacturer training sessions.
Focusing specifically on four classes taking place at CEDIA Expo 2022 that take a deep dive into the topics of AV over IP, immersive audio, ground loops and AC noise, and wireless audio, here are some seminars to check at the show:
Thursday, September 29, 9:30-11 a.m.
Deathmatch: Audio Networking/Audio Over IP Technologies
David Meyers, CEDIA, Bob Ehlers, Audinate, Steve Silberman Savant, Sebastien Gailleton, StormAudio
This interactive Deathmatch series panel discussion assembles leading experts in Dante Audio, AVB, AES67, and networking to discuss the pros and cons of the various approaches for audio distribution. Inspired by CEDIA’s Designing Timing-Aware Networks for AV white paper, discussion points include network requirements, timing awareness and synchronization (or lack thereof), proprietary vs standards-based solutions, audio quality, compatibility and interoperability, system design, and expansion considerations.
Thursday, Sept. 29, 1-5 p.m.Â
Immersive Audio system Design Recommended Practices
Adam Pelz, Bespoke Cinemas & Intgration, Peter Aylett, Officina Acoustica, Ben Goff, Cinema Lusso

AC Power and Interconnects for Low Noise Systems
Bill Whitlock, Whitlock Consulting
This course will lift the veil of mystery that surrounds symptoms like hum and buzz in audio and seemingly random misbehavior in video and other digital portions of AV systems. We will explain how AC power indirectly causes these problems and what simple steps can be taken in new building construction to effectively avoid the problems altogether. For systems in existing buildings, a simple no-instruments troubleshooting method can pinpoint the causes and locations of noise problems.
