Set in the Washington Park neighborhood of Denver, Colorado, this residence lets the light flood into its space. And it’s all thanks to an automated shade system developed in collaboration between Quality Audio Video (QAV) as well as Alvarez Morris Architecture and Jackie Johnson Interior Design.
Rich natural sunlight pours over a striking white and black interior, with external views of the local greenery providing a warm, biophilic contrast to the home’s cooler design touches. As Carly Bitz of QAV puts it, the home is the perfect blend of elegance and innovation through beautiful design and state-of-the-art home automation solutions.
“This Washington Park residence exemplifies luxury and innovation,” she told CE Pro.” It features Hartmann and Forbes automated Roman shades and drapes, seamlessly integrated with advanced Crestron lighting and automation systems.”

Bespoke Roman Automated Shades Create an Exceptional Designer Touch
“Balancing the sophisticated window coverings with functional lighting and automation systems was challenging. Coordinating efforts among interior designers, architects, and builders required meticulous planning and communication,” Bitz explained.
In designing the motorized shading systems for the location, the team went with Hartmann and Forbes for their “woven-to-size craftsmanship.” Using bespoke automated Roman shades and drapes, the team set to meet the high standard for the project’s aesthetics, while also going with a product that could be integrated into the home’s lighting systems as well.
With that set, QAV selected lighting fixtures that complemented the window coverings, enhancing their beauty without intrusion. Custom mounting options and detailed site surveys ensured optimal placement of transformers and wiring paths.
United through a Crestron control platform, the illuminaries and Roman shades help control the amount of, as well as the quality of lighting that the home receives throughout the day, with multiple sheer fabric options providing protection from the sun’s harshest rays without completely depriving the home of light.

“The project highlighted the power of collaboration and innovation,” Bitz, concluded.
“Focusing on the Hartmann and Forbes window coverings, QAV achieved a stunning, cohesive result that exceeded the client’s expectations and set a new standard for integrating automated shades, drapes, and lighting within a beautifully designed home.”
