It was back in early 2020 when CE Pro first profiled Doug Warren, a self-employed journeyman electrician in New Jersey who engineered his own super-slim profile TV mount for over the fireplace applications and created Out of Sight Mounting Solutions. Since then, there have been some cool new features added that make this flush-mount solution even more unique as it gets ready to hit the market.
If you recall, Warren used his engineering skill gleaned over the past 30 years to design and eventually patent the Hide-A-Mount over-fireplace TV mount to minimize the profile of his over-the-fireplace TV and allow the display to pivot outward from the bottom to clear the mantel before dropping down.
Warren first developed his solution for his own home over-the-fireplace TV after he was dissatisfied with other solutions that still protruded several inches away from the wall. Â So, he built his own recessed enclosure with data and power outlets that would allow the TV to sit 100% flush with the wall. However, with the TV fully flush to the wall, the display would not clear the mantel so it can be extended and dropped down in front of the fireplace opening unless it was mounted on the wall. But that would require the TV to be placed usually 5 to 10 inches higher above the mantel, which makes it too high visually.
So, Warren engineered a flush-to-the-wall TV mount solution based on the MantelMount 340, 540 and 700 manual dropdown mounts, as well as for the MantelMount 860 motorized mount. His patented Hide-A-Mount bracket is now on the cusp of being manufactured under the brand name Out of Sight Mounting Solutions, and ready for purchase in the market.
Warren says the new solution offers:
- Clean aesthetics
- 100% flush mounting
- Great price point
- Low-profile side view
- Four high quality engineered pistons
- Recessed or surface-mount option
- Ability to be lowered by 30 inches
Warren has two patents already and has applied for a third patent. He also says he has 70 pre-orders for the mount already waiting for it to be manufactured.
Among the notable TV mounting features are adjustable handles that can be a little longer, making it easier to pivot out in cases in which there is a soundbar attached below the TV. The new longer handle actually sits below the soundbar. Even with this additional feature, the TV sits just one-quarter of an inch off the wall.
The Hide-A-Mount bracket also allows the TV to be installed exactly where the consumer and designer wants it, no worrying about it having to be off center or too high to accommodate studs or other structural elements.
