A 2015 Nielsen Global New Product Innovation Survey found that nearly six in 10 (59 percent) global respondents prefer to buy new products from brands familiar to them. In the home systems industry, brand recognition goes a long way when dealing with consumers who may still harbor skepticism about smart home technologies. This is one of the reasons why HomePro, with offices in Dallas, Houston, and Austin, have offered Honeywell security solutions exclusively to its builder and homebuyer clients for more than four years. The brand has helped HomePro sell and install Honeywell security products into more than 70 percent of the 17,000 homes outfits with smart home technologies annually.
HomePro carries the full Honeywell product line, including the Honeywell wireless Lyric security system, Lynx hardwired alarm system, contact closures, motion sensors, and surveillance cameras. It’s a huge variety and inventory, based on the sheer number of residences the HomePro team handles each year. Yet, the company has been able to streamline the buying, delivery, and inventory process by obtaining the entire Honeywell suite from Houston-based distributor WAVE Electronics, according to HomePro vice president of sales Ross Theriault.
Honeywell is a recent addition to the WAVE product portfolio, but HomePro has been buying a variety of home systems products from the distributor for years. “WAVE is our preferred vendor,” says Theriault. “They’ve been extremely open with communication and responsive to our needs as a growing home systems integration business, that we were thrilled to learn that we could now buy Honeywell products from them.”
Although the Honeywell line is relatively new to the WAVE portfolio, Theriault says the HomePro team is already enjoying the same benefits of dealing with WAVE, as they have with other products. “One of the biggest advantages we’ve realized is WAVE’s well-organized and operated Houston-based distribution centers. We are able to go right to the source to pick up products from their shopping aisles when we need them and they’ve even worked out custom shipping programs for us to make our job easier.”
That goes not just for Honeywell security products, he says, but also audio/video systems, speakers, automation components, central vac systems, and intercoms. “We started out as a security company and it continues to be our bread and butter, but along the way WAVE has helped us branch into other low-voltage areas with training, simple access to products, and the utmost support.”
Now that Honeywell is firmly planted as part of the WAVE equation, HomePro has been able to streamline its operations significantly. Nearly everything the HomePro offers to builders and homeowners is available through WAVE, giving the integration firm one convenient place to shop, receive training, and get top-tier tech support.
