Regardless of the economic climate, security is perennially at the top of nearly every homeowner’s list of technology priorities. But with the proliferation of residential door entry products on the market today, how can an integrator differentiate his offering?
Vincent Marino of ESS Systems in La Crescenta, Calif., has found the answer using Holovision's selection of highly stylish entry systems that deliver both convenience and security. The feature-filled Holovision access control solutions with custom options enable ESS to satisfy a broad array of residential clients.
Support for Creative System Designs
La Crescenta is a community in the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains just north of Los Angeles that offers breathtaking views of the city while also providing residents with a commutable proximity to economic centers such as Hollywood, Burbank and downtown L.A. Properties there range from mid-market suburban homes to large mansions to rural horse properties, often gated. Marino is able to serve that wide customer base with unique system solutions, ranging from the affluent to mid-market customers, using Holovision’s line of products.

“Holovision helps us offer customers something unique that no one else can,” says Marino. “Holovision absolutely [helps us meet the growing expectations of consumers that hear buzz words like ‘connected home.’]”
Some of Marino’s preferred solutions from Holovision include the Model 1088, the 518 and the 400 series entry products. He favors these products because they are user-friendly, reliable entry systems that are in step with the latest consumer preferences.
“[Holovision’s products] provide the ability to custom design anything. That is a big plus for us,” he states. “Holovision is willing to adapt to the products we use and fit into their products.”
In addition to a selection of products that meets a variety of installation applications, Marino also says Holovision’s customer support is helpful.
“We use Holovision on just about every project and in some cases they are custom made specifically for the job,” he adds. “[We use Holovision] because they truly offer something unique that customers have that ‘wow factor’ for.”
Holovision’s Model 1088, 518, 400 Series
The Model 1088 is an advanced entry system with flush mount and gooseneck mounting options. Accommodating back boxes from other manufacturers, integrators can use the 1088 as a retrofit solution that offers users an illuminated keypad and bell button, and a choice of finishes.
Some of the product’s integrator options include a tamper switch output that connects to alarm systems, an auxiliary bell contact that connects to automation systems, cameras and DVRs, and VoIP capabilities for standard SIP or Crestron RavaSIP.
The Model 1088 also includes an on-board IP switch for Panasonic IP cameras, as well as Holovision’s wide dynamic range color camera, and an analog service output.

The Holovision’s Model 518 includes an adjustable camera with a choice of keypad types. Other versions include the:
- Model 518-X PAN, which provides compatibility with Panasonic KSUs
- Model 518-X-TES2, which provides integrators with a solution that creates a communication link between the front door and every telephone in a home;
- Model 518-X-VIK, which facilitates installations with Viking E-40 intercom units to help integrators deliver more comprehensive security solutions.
Another Holovision product that ESS System frequently specifies is the Model 400 gate entry system. With the Model 400, professional installers have a versatile solution that features a ¼-inch faceplate for phone systems and intercoms with provisions for a choice of keypads.
Offering versions for compatibility with Viking E-10 and Panasonic products, Holovision says all integrators need to do is specify the exact Viking or Panasonic product. Moreover, Holovision also offers the VoIP Model 400-X-VIO2 version to allow for integration with Crestron RavaSIP, Control4, Savant or standard SIP systems.
Reiterating Marino’s comments, the Calif.-based manufacturer also works with dealers to provide custom solutions beyond its standard product line to ensure compatibility with just about every installation scenario to serve the markets in areas were no solutions are readily available.
