Providing recording studios, including home studios with an updated version of one of its most popular products, ATC has announced its new SCM25 Pro MK2 monitor.
Available in the U.S. from TransAudio Group, the new monitor features ATC’s hand-built SH25-765 dual-suspension tweeter, and through the use of this ATC tweeter, the British audio company emphasizes that prior to the introduction of the SCM25 Pro MK2 Monitor it was using an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) tweeter.
According to the company the first version of the speaker was introduced back in 2010 and it has been a popular product for ATC. The new SCM25 Pro MK2 Monitor will provide users with many of the performance attributes of the original speaker, but with improved high-frequency sound through its lower distortion capabilities.
TransAudio Group points out midrange frequencies are handled by an ATC built 3-inch soft-dome driver, and handling the speaker’s lower frequencies is ATC’s 6.5-inch woofer that features a carbon-loaded paper cone.
Internally, the SCM25 MK2 monitor utilizes a trio of Class AB MOSFET amplifiers that produce 235-watts of power with low noise levels. The speaker also employs a three-way Linkwitz Riley filter network that includes a pair of all-pass stages to help the crossover network maintain proper phase response.
