Whole-home Wi-Fi provider eero is launching eero for Communities, a new solution designed to make Wi-Fi fast, reliable and secure for managed properties.
According to the Amazon-owned networking company, eero for Communities is a purpose-built network management tool that helps owners and managers of multi-dwelling properties deploy and manage eero mesh Wi-Fi for residents.
The company says the solution takes advantage of its new class of Power-over-Ethernet device such as the eero PoE 6 and eero PoE Gateway, as well as management software, to Wi-Fi to residents.
In addition, internet service providers can deploy services more quickly and efficiently with fewer truck rolls and proactive network management, simplified support and lower costs, the firm says.
According to the company, eero for Communities enables residents to customize their private Wi-Fi network shortly after moving in, including setting up their Wi-Fi network name and password, creating profiles to block certain content, block adds and manage their network using the eero app.

The company also says eero for Communities – to be available next month in the U.S. and Canada – will help streamline customer onboarding with Service Left in Place, which allows customers to leave the hardware in the unit.
eero’s solution also enables smart building experiences via a dedicated property-wide IoT network for property-owned IoT devices such as thermostats, sensors and door locks, the company says. Automatic updates are pushed out to keep networks up to date and secure.
In addition, eero’s firmware capabilities and automatic channel selection helps reduce Wi-Fi interference by automatically sensing dense radio frequency environments common in multi-dwelling units and adjusts performance for optimal channels and transmit power for each network.
The company also plans to release a single, centralized dashboard to help property managers onboard and assist residents.
Nick Weaver, CEO and co-founder of eero, says in a statement that the company’s goal is to bring fast, reliable and secure Wi-Fi to customers everywhere.
“We’ve delivered solutions tailored to meet the needs of internet service providers, small businesses, professional installers, and customers, and today we’re thrilled to bring a solution specifically for property managers and developers,” Weaver says.
