Lithe Audio and LILIN have announced that LILIN’s AI-powered camera range will now be integrated into the Lithe Audio iO1 outdoor wireless speaker. According to Wesley Siu, founder of Lithe Audio, this latest development, is designed to add a new dimension to security systems through automated audio deterrence.
As per a statement by Siu, “Audio announcements can serve as an effective deterrent. The psychological impact of a human-like voice delivering warnings or instructions can be more persuasive than traditional alarms.”
The integration of LILIN’s AI cameras also serves as a step towards more decentralized smart home systems, according to statements from Lithe.
By removing the need for a central controller for the automations to occur, the offering is meant to bring an added level of affordability to a feature often found in more complex control systems, according to LILIN CEO Steve Liddiard.
“Pairing LILIN’s AI with Lithe Audio speakers provides homeowners with a robust security deterrent solution. The additional functionality brought by this integration, without the need for a complex home automation system, unlocks a wealth of new opportunities for clients, with customizable audio options that give the impression that the system is remotely monitored and responding directly to the event as it occurs.”

Liddiard also notes that the integration also allows outdoor sound systems meant for entertainment to incorporate themselves directly into security systems.
With these new updates, the iO1 speaker will come pre-equipped with built-in alarms and security announcements meant to drive response latencies down to zero for local area alerts while also allowing it to operate independent of an internet connection.
According to Lithe, the system activates when a potential threat it detected within the vicinity. The speaker can then deliver an automated announcement that will alert individuals in the vicinity that they are currently under surveillance, which, the company notes, often serves as effective deterrents for intruders.
The company further notes that with the current system, installers can set up separate zones across an entire property and set up specific announcements to occur for intrusions within those zones.
