IKEA is launching three new smart sensors for motion detection and water leakage, a new category of IKEA Home smart products designed to help customers manage and monitor homes from anywhere.
The company’s new PARASOLL, VALLHORN, and BADRING smart sensors deliver real-time notifications and are designed to work standalone or with other smart products from IKEA, such as the DIRIGERA hub. All three sensors are based on the Zigbee software.
According to IKEA, the PARASOLL door and window sensor is designed for discreet mounting on windors and doors and notifies users when those access points are opened or closed.
The VALLHORN wireless motion sensor can be placed both indoors and outdoors, and it activates lights upon detecting movement. The lights can be personalized with adjustable color and intensity settings.
Lastly, the BADRING water leakage sensor is placed near areas of water usage and notifies users of a water leak via mobile notifications or activation of a built-in alarm.
The sensors can connect to IKEA’S DIRIGERA hub to trigger other smart devices, send alerts to mobile devices, or adjust lights, all via the IKEA Home app.
“At IKEA, we want to make smarter living simpler and more convenient for everyone. Our new sensors merge technology with our home furnishing expertise, to provide affordable solutions that elevate everyday moments at home”, says David Granath, Range Manager at IKEA of Sweden.
PARASOLL and VALLHORN will start selling from January 2024, followed by BADRING in April 2024, IKEA says.
