Users of ecobee Smart Security systems can now automatically lock their home when they leave and arm their security system from anywhere thanks to a new integration with Yale and August smart locks.
According to ecobee, the Wi-Fi enabled smart locks from Yale and August allow users to lock their home when they leave and arm the system via the ecobee app, as well as see the status of locks and let guests in when they aren’t home.
“We’re excited to expand the capabilities of our Smart Security solution to support Yale and August smart locks,” said Greg Fyke, CEO of ecobee, in a statement. “When combined with our smart thermostats, we provide a unique and compelling whole home solution for energy management and security that works seamlessly together, delivering comfort and peace of mind.”
ecobee bills its Smart Security product as a “next-generation home monitoring system that gives users complete control of the home” and leverages smart devices to keep homes secure and lower energy costs. The company hopes to enhance user experience and safety by integrating with popular smart locks.
Garrett Lovejoy, vice president of category management at Yale and August parent company Fortune Brands Innovations, said the integration aims to enhance home security experiences.
“By bringing Yale and August smart locks together with ecobee Smart Security, we’re combining two trusted names in smart home innovation to deliver both convenience and confidence to everyday security,” Lovejoy said.
Smart locks from Yale and August feature both security and convenience, with multiple ways to access homes, including keypads, fingerprint readers, and app controls.
