The new McIntosh MC451 Dual Mono Power Amplifier is the latest product from the famous home audio company. The new amplifier features McIntosh’s Hybrid Drive technology and it is engineered to produce the same high levels of sound quality the 70-year-old plus company is known for within the home audio market.
McIntosh explains that its Hybrid Drive technology provides users a flexible listening experience through the use of tube and solid state circuit designs. According to the N.Y.-based company, when the amplifier is using its tube circuitry it is rated to produce 150 watts of power and when it’s using its solid state technologies it delivers 300 watts of power.
The McIntosh MC451 was strategically developed to provide professional integrators with an amplification solution that is easy to install into a range of home AV systems regardless of whether the homeowner wants a dedicated stereo system or a full immersive audio home theater.
Other proprietary technologies utilized for the McIntosh MC451 include the company’s Power Guard and Power Guard SGS; Sentry Monitor, Autoformer, Unity Coupled Circuit, Solid Cinch speaker binding posts, Monogrammed Heatsinks and McIntosh’s famous DualView Power Output Meter.
McIntosh adds the MC451 also includes solid state 2-, 4- and 8-ohm taps, separate inputs for the vacuum and solid state amplifiers when using an external crossover. The tube section features its own 2-, 4- and 8-ohm taps, and a built-in crossover that includes a balance knob for the tube and solid state circuits, and a single knob for the amp’s frequency crossover.
