Audio Research, the respected high-performance audio manufacturer has introduced its Reference Phono 3SE phono preamplifier.
The Minn.-based company explains that since the launch of its Reference (REF) 6SE Line-Stage Preamplifier, the expansion of its 50th anniversary product continues through a special update of its Ref Phono 3 Preamplifier.
Audio Research states the $17,000 Reference Phono 3SE replaces its REF Phono 3, which was introduced in 2016.
For the new product Audio Research says it applied the lessons it had learned during the development of its Reference 160-Series Amplifier. Some of the improvements built into the new Reference Phono 3SE include, “greater purity and focus, improved transient speed and snap, and [an] increase in quality of dynamic shading.”
According to the company, the SE update will be available to existing REF Phono 3 owners in May 2020. The updates are installed through Audio Research for a cost of $3,000, and Audio Research adds that authorized service centers outside of North America will also be able to install update.
