New York City, May 6th, 2015: KNX projects, such as the Mansion of Baseball Legend Eddie Murray and the House of Rock in Los Angeles are not only showcase projects, they already reflect the high demand for KNX in the market. Therefore, it was no surprise that the participation at LIGHTFAIR International from May 5th – 7th, as well as the foundation of KNX National Group USA, with presidency held by Siemens, on May 6th was utterly successful! This memorable day makes markets in 125 countries easily accessible for the whole American KNX community.
The need for KNX was until now reflected by the market conditions in the US: Only eight major building control manufacturers and more than a dozen regional and start-up companies in the US dominated the market, each with its own products, installation methods and protocols. However, the demand shifted to technologies that can be integrated with the building management system. In particular: An open protocol KNX, approved as an ANSI/AHREA 135 Standard, is the technology, which demand was skyrocketing throughout the last years. This fact and the huge market opportunities of the US were reflected at the first at LIGHTFAIR INTERNATIONAL, the leading exhibition for lighting and building automation solutions, in New York from May 5th – 7th. Several thousand visitors from various fields were finally able to get to know the only open protocol, which will ease their whole work. Some of those visitors were joining the foundation meeting of KNX National Group USA, which was successfully held on May 6th, ushering the new era of the worldwide KNX developments.
“From this day on, we are not only witnessing the beginning of a new chapter in the USA, but also in the entire world. With the foundation of the American KNX National Group, we are not only better able to accommodate the needs of the KNX community in the US but also make a huge step towards our goal, to ‘make KNX the worldwide Standard for commercial and residential building control’, says Heinz Lux, CEO of KNX Association. “The introduction of KNX and upcoming activities of KNX National Group USA will not only support the current KNX members in the US, but also open the door to many new members of the American community.”
“The market is ready and the foundation of KNX National Group USA could not happen at a better time”, according to David Thurow, President of KNX National Group USA. “Manufacturer, integrators, and all other professionals, which are active in the field of building automation, were looking for a very long time for an open technology, which allows the interaction of devices. We are happy that KNX Association is making the step to set up the KNX National Group USA and making markets in 125 countries easy accessible for all KNX users.”
